October 20, 1944 was the day that Gen. Douglas MacArthur landed in Leyte, Philippines in fulfillment of his promise to return and liberate the country.  The Memorial Mass in St. Anthony Church was in commemoration of this historic day and in remembrance of the thousands of innocent civilians who died during World War II.  Special details such as the presentation of the United States and Philippine flags, a white floral wreath symbolizing peace, Tagalog hymns and prayers were incorporated in the Mass officiated by Fr. Jose Magana and Fr. Albert Avenido.  The renowned Filipinas Chorale USA sang during the mass.  Refreshments were served by the Santo Nino Group of St. Anthony Church.
